🕉️ Winter Char Dham Yatra – With Sub-Temples (Winter Abodes)

During the winter months, when the main Char Dham shrines close due to heavy snowfall, the idols are shifted to their winter abodes. These sacred sub-temples remain accessible and hold great spiritual significance.

1. Kharsali Village – Winter Seat of Goddess Yamuna (Yamunotri)

Just a short distance from Hanuman Chatti, Kharsali is the winter residence of Goddess Yamuna. The idol is brought here with great reverence for worship during the cold season.

2. Mukhba Village – Winter Seat of Goddess Ganga (Gangotri)

Located near Harsil, Mukhba becomes the winter home of Goddess Ganga. The idol is ceremoniously brought here during Diwali and stays until Akshaya Tritiya.

3. Ukhimath – Winter Seat of Lord Kedarnath

Located in the Rudraprayag district, Ukhimath is where the idol of Lord Kedarnath is worshipped in the winter months. It is also home to the Omkareshwar Temple, where rituals continue throughout the winter.

4. Narsingh Temple (Joshimath) – Winter Seat of Lord Badrinath

This ancient temple in Joshimath becomes the winter abode of Lord Badrinath. The idol of Lord Vishnu is moved here, and rituals continue until the reopening of the main temple in Badrinath.
